The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration invites applications for the Acadiana Business Economist/BORSF Endowed Chair in Economics. The position includes a reduced teaching load, competitive salary, a summer salary stipend, and a research and travel stipend and comes with tenure at the rank of Professor. The Chair is expected to pursue research and scholarship commensurate with the position, and provide leadership in the intellectual development of the faculty of the Moody College of Business through mentoring and other interactions. The Chair will develop professional relationships with the business community and take the lead in regional economic analysis, disseminating results in appropriate venues. The Chair will raise awareness, deepen understanding, and increase appreciation for economics through curriculum development and instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level and through community outreach.

The successful candidate will be expected to raise the visibility of the College in the area of regional economic analysis. The Chair will work in collaboration with other endowed chairs in the College to enhance the College’s research culture, establish a research center, and shape the strategic direction of the College with an emphasis on economics, finance, and regional development. The Chair will engage in service at all levels within the university.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be recognized nationally for research in economics and must have an active program of high impact research and teaching in an area of economics that merits appointment at the rank of Professor. The applicant must (1) possess an earned doctorate in Economics; (2) have the ability to understand the regional economy and the willingness to direct and disseminate regional analyses; (3) possess strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; (4) have the ability and motivation to continue an already established program of research and (5) demonstrate innovative teaching skills. Furthermore, expertise in energy economics and knowledge of the oil and gas industry will strengthen the applicant’s credentials.

The search committee will consider candidates who have made their careers in the academy as well as those who have worked at senior levels of government, intergovernmental organizations, and policy research institutions.

Salary:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications, experience, and proven ability. The holder of this position is an employee of the State of Louisiana and as such enjoys a generous benefits package. The position includes a reduced teaching load, competitive salary, a summer salary stipend, and a sizable discretionary fund for research and travel. The faculty position will be housed in the Economics and Finance Department. The position comes with tenure at the rank of Professor.
