The Treasury Department's Office of Macroeconomic Analysis anticipates several openings in spring and summer 2018 for early to mid-career economists. The office provides analysis to senior Treasury and Administration officials on current and future developments in the U.S. economy that cut across all economic sectors, as well as monetary and fiscal developments. Economists on staff work closely with top policy-makers throughout the Federal Government. The work requires skills usually associated with a Ph.D. in economics or finance or a similar degree. In addition to strong analytical and quantitative skills, successful candidates must have the ability to present their views clearly and concisely and to prepare analysis, both oral and written, often under tight deadlines. U.S. citizenship is required at the time of application.
