The Department of Economics is seeking a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to fill an Endowed Chair in Economics or Business with an Emphasis on Catholic Social Thought. Exceptional candidates from all fields will be considered. The position will start August 2018. The successful candidate must have a strong interest in Catholic Social Thought with the ability to demonstrate how these principles provide an effective foundation for the practice of business and the benefit of the common good. This endowed position carries a reduced teaching load and an expectation of excellent teaching, impactful scholarship, and service to students, the College and the community. The position requires a completed PhD by August 2018. ABDs will be considered with a strong recommendation from their committee chair concerning the completion of the PhD.

The successful candidate will enjoy the potential for affiliation with the Center for Political and Economic Thought, a research and educational arm of the McKenna School that is home to some of the best and most active political science and economics lecture and conference programs in the nation. The Economics Department is located in Saint Vincent College's Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government. Several academic and business-oriented centers are also related to the School and the College and provide opportunities for research and professional activity. Saint Vincent College is a Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts and sciences college of about 1700 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. The College has a student to faculty ratio of 12:1 and typical class sizes range from 20 to 30 students. It is located thirty-five miles east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in a pleasant suburban/rural environment near the foothills of the Laurel Mountains.
