Assistant Professor in Food and Agricultural Business Management and Finance

Principal Duties: The Department of Agricultural Economics is seeking a self-directed, academic-year faculty member to develop an internationally recognized program of scholarly teaching, research, and/or outreach, in agribusiness management and finance. The Department has a strong group of professionals focused on agribusiness management and the successful applicant will contribute to the Department's expertise and national reputation in this arena. This will include on-campus, off-campus, and on-line components.

The Department of Agricultural Economics has developed a reputation of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education by offering well-taught and rigorous curricula. The candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses. The successful candidate will disseminate scholarly output on applied topics in agribusiness management and decision-making through peer reviewed journals, Extension outlets, executive education programs, and/or online communications. The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging executives and managers of food and agricultural businesses and financial institutions in developing the research/engagement agenda, securing extramural funding, and communicating results to agribusiness audiences. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Department's Center for Food and Agricultural Business and the Center for Commercial Agriculture as well as a variety of other College and University Centers and resources.

Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, business, finance, management or other closely related field with outstanding expertise in microeconomic theory and quantitative methods applied to problems related to agribusiness managerial decision-making and leadership. This position requires a strong ability to communicate orally and in writing when working in the classroom or in public forums. Classroom teaching experience is preferred. The Ph.D. is required by the start of the appointment. Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
