Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for (1) a tenure track assistant professor position and (2) a tenured position at the associate or full professor level in applied microeconomics, both commencing autumn semester 2018, subject to budgetary approval. The specific field is open, and might include labor, education, health, history, innovation, public, or urban/regional economics, or other applied microeconomics fields.

The department also is seeking scholars working on racial and gender inequality issues, the economics of immigration, health inequality, policy evaluation, and closely-related topics to increase faculty diversity at Ohio State. The Race, Ethnicity, Gender/Sex and Disparities in Modern Society cluster will promote research and teaching on these topics, and it will be a foundation on which to build with other colleges, expanding areas of interest and research as faculty are added. The new cluster of faculty will be able to work with many committed professors within the College of Arts and Sciences in the Diversity & Identity Studies Collective, the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and the Department of African American and African Studies. Graduate certificates in this area of inquiry and undergraduate bridge programs are being built to support this initiative.

A tenure-track assistant professor will be expected to establish and maintain an active research program, seek grants, and support excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are expected to complete all requirements for their doctoral degree prior to the start of employment. An associate professor or full professor candidate will have an established, active and ongoing record of scholarship at the highest level. Candidates will have an international research reputation, evidence of strong teaching ability and an exceptional record of advising graduate students. A doctoral degree in Economics is required at the time of application for a tenured position. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.

Application deadline is January 31, 2018, with reviews starting September 30, 2017. Complete applications will include a CV and samples of recent publications or working papers. Assistant professor candidates should include three letters of reference; associate and full professor candidates should include the names of three to five references.
