The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Agricultural Business, Economics, Financial Engineering, and a respected Master's degree in Applied Economics, with majors numbering about 400. The Financial Engineering program combines theoretical economics and financial foundations with engineering and statistical methods for problem-solving issues related to risk management and derivative pricing in financial, credit, and production markets. The proposed MSU Center for Regulatory and Applied Economic Analysis (CRAEA) is located in the DAEE. The mission of CRAEA is to engage undergraduate and graduate students with faculty in academic research that will further the understanding of the impact of economic regulation on societal well-being.

This tenure-track position will be responsible for providing high-quality research, teaching, and service. The area of research emphasis for this position is financial economics. Research is expected to be of a quality resulting in publications in leading disciplinary refereed journals and competitive for CRAEA and other internal and external research fellowships and grants. Teaching will be in economics or agricultural business courses at the undergraduate and possibly master's levels, as well as at least one course in the DAEE-housed Financial Engineering program.

Required Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in economics, finance, or closely related discipline.
2. Established research program related to economics and finance.
3. Experience in a tenure-track position or equivalent research and teaching experience. Full, associate, and advanced assistant professors (with at least 2 years of experience) are welcome to apply.
4. Ability to teach a course in the Financial Engineering curriculum, as well as courses in Economics or Agricultural Business.
5. Interest in affiliation with CRAEA.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated experience related to quantitative finance, suggesting an ability to contribute to the Financial Engineering program.
2. Demonstrated success in conducting and publishing research in regulation or policy broadly related to financial economics, as would be competitive for fellowships and grants from CRAEA.
3. Demonstrated record of extramural funding that supports and results in peer-reviewed research publications.
4. Demonstrated ability to work with and engage diverse colleagues and students.

The Successful Candidate Will:
Have excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to successfully contribute to DAEE programs, an appreciation for diverse constituencies, and the ability to present their research to a wide array of audiences including government officials, policy advisors, faculty, and the general public.
