The Legislative Revenue Office is seeking to fill an opening for an economist. The Legislative Revenue Office is a permanent, non-partisan service agency providing research on public finance and revenue policy issues for the Oregon Legislative Assembly. The office staffs the House and Senate Committees responsible for revenue and state finance issues. This position is located within the legislative branch of state government and requires the willingness to maintain a non-partisan and impartial manner while working in a political environment. As one of 6 professional staff economists, the major duties of an economist include analyzing the potential revenue impact of proposed legislation, developing and maintaining computer simulation models, making oral and written presentations to legislators and legislative committees and coordinating projects with other legislative offices and state agencies.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in economics or completion of course work for a Ph.D. and experience in economic research on public finance issues. Relevant experience must include working with revenue and taxation issues and legislative processes, operating sophisticated software and manipulating complex data sets, and independently planning and implementing research projects.
