The Graduate School of Economics at Kobe University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in International Economics (International Political Economy, Development Economics, International Trade, International Investment) to begin on January 1, 2018. The tenure-track period is five years and a tenure review will be conducted by the end of the fourth year.

This position is supported by the MEXT’s support program for young researchers in national universities and the Kobe university’s tenure-track program. The successful candidate will be supported by the start-up funding to improve various abilities for research, education and administration. The successful candidate must be able to teach basic subjects (any of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics) in addition to specialized subjects in international economics.

The candidate must meet all of the following criteria: (1) the candidate holds a PhD degree or is expected to get a PhD by March 31, 2018; (2) the candidate demonstrates a record of high-quality research in a specialized field (at least one empirical study is required); (3) the candidate is able to give lectures in Japanese and English; (4) the candidate must be under forty years old (as of April 1, 2018) in accordance with the purpose of the support program.
