Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Atlanta, Georgia
CDC Steven M. Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness Fellowship
Full-Time Applied Research Fellowships Available

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) established the 2-year Steven M. Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness Fellowship in 1995 to address an ongoing demand in public health for rigorous quantitative policy analysis, health economics-based inquiry, and integrative health services research through the recruitment, internal placement, and professional development of public health economists. Prevention effectiveness and public health economics aim to assess the impact of public health policies, programs, and practices on health outcomes by determining efficacy, effectiveness, and efficiency through the use of econometric, decision, simulation, and operations modeling and analytic methods.

The PE Fellowship is currently the largest post-doctoral training program in applied health economics and decision sciences in the US with fellows working in such areas as cancer, environmental health, school health, emerging infections, HIV/AIDS, immunizations, tuberculosis, birth defects, heart disease and stroke, and diabetes. CDC is recruiting to fill approximately 10 PE Fellowship positions for 2018. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in economics, decision sciences, health services research or related health sciences, industrial engineering, operations research, public policy, or related quantitatively-oriented fields. All doctoral degree requirements must be completed by 7/20/2018.

The starting annual salary is approximately $73,000 plus full Federal benefits. The application period opens on 9/11/2017 and closes 1/19/2018. The 2018 fellowship class begins on 8/20/2018 with an intensive orientation and training program. Interested individuals should apply online at: www.cdc.gov/pef. Please direct any questions to: CDC’s PE Fellowship Program Coordinator by phone at: 404-498-6159, or email: PEF@cdc.gov.
