Assistant or Associate Professor and Extension Specialist, Farm Management. This is a 9-month, 100% time, 60% Extension and 40% Research, tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor.

Criteria and requirements for tenure are subject to University Policy. The Department of Applied Economics offers highly ranked programs of study at the undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D. levels. The Department has a distinguished faculty, many of whom have won University, national and international awards for contributions to the profession. The department houses the nationally recognized Center for Farm Financial Management (cffm.umn.edu) which, along with the University of Minnesota Extension's agricultural business management team, offers education and support to farm decision makers on production, marketing, and financial management through classes and software tools. The State of Minnesota has made a major new investment in long-term agricultural productivity research and Extension at the University through the Agricultural Research, Education, Extension and Technology Transfer (AGREETT) program. This position is part of the AGREETT initiative and includes responsibilities for extension and research programs related to farm management. Specifically, the person in this position will conduct research and extension programming related to improved farm business management practices to enhance profitability and productivity of farming operations. Research, and subsequent research-based educational programming, will address some of the myriad issues facing managers of commercial farms. These issues include, among others, precision agriculture and technological change, agro-environmental issues, risk management, climate change, policy, and finance and capital investment.

Essential qualifications include a Ph.D. in applied economics, agricultural economics, economics, or a closely related field.
