The Department of Economics at Monash University seeks to appoint two outstanding scholars of international distinction for 1) Professor of Macroeconomics and 2) Professor, Any Field.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate an excellent research record of consistently publishing in top tier international journals as well as an active ongoing research agenda, strong academic leadership, and a proven track record of attracting external research funding. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to supporting all objectives of the Department including excellence in research, supervision and teaching, and by mentoring junior staff and actively participating in the Department’s governance.

The Economics Department at Monash University is committed to excellence in research and teaching and has a very vibrant research environment. It is placed within the top 50 economics schools in the world in several recent rankings including the Tilburg University Ranking of Economics Schools, the 2016 QS World University Ranking by subject (with a 5-star rating) and the ‘top level’ institutions in RePEc. In support of its excellence in research objects, the Department is able to offer low teaching loads (generally one unit per year), and generous conference travel, field travel and research funding.

Monash University is located in Melbourne, which is consistently voted the most liveable city in the world. It has a vibrant café culture, superb restaurants, excellent schools, transport, cultural and leisure facilities, as well as beautiful beaches and easily assessable ski fields.

The appointment will be made at Level E (Full Professor) and the position is tenured and full-time. The Economics Department offers a highly internationally competitive salary, plus 17.5% employer superannuation (retirement) contributions. In addition, a salary supplement can be negotiated for a strong candidate.
