FERC’s Division of Energy Market Oversight and Division of Analytics and Surveillance in the Office of Enforcement, seek two Senior Visiting Scholars to conduct research and analysis related to the wholesale electricity or natural gas markets that fall under FERC’s jurisdiction. Possible research topics include market power, market efficiency, and index formation. Other related topics are welcome.

FERC offers access to non-public market data (which must be treated as confidential) and collaboration with energy experts. The Scholar will work with staff and engage actively in collaborative research initiatives that may result in publications in academic journals.

The optimal candidate is currently employed as tenured full or associate professor at an accredited university and can demonstrate relevant knowledge and research interests. The Scholar will work at FERC’s HQ in Washington, D.C., full or part-time for one academic year.

FERC is currently considering candidates for Spring 2017 and/or for the 2017-2018 academic year. FERC may consider candidates who are only available for one semester.
