The Department of Social Sciences (Economics Discipline) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 1, 2017. The primary fields are microeconomics and public finance. The candidate will be expected to teach the following courses: principles and intermediate microeconomics, public finance, and 1-2 courses in applied microeconomics (e.g. economics of education, health economics, transportation economics, economics of information), relevant to the candidate’s area of specialization. The Economics program is located within a multi-disciplinary Department of Social Sciences that includes History, Political Science, Urban and Regional Studies, Geography, and Public Administration. Teaching load is three courses per semester (6 per year) on an eight-month contract, with additional opportunities for summer teaching. Courses in Economics are typically capped at 35 students. Salary is competitive.

A Ph.D. in economics or evidence of its impending completion is required. Additional selection criteria include demonstrated potential for and commitment to teaching talented and diverse undergraduates, as well as the ability to sustain a productive research agenda.
