NBER’s Fellowship Program in Disability Policy Research supports outstanding economists visiting NBER’s Cambridge office for one or two years of intensive research to deepen our understanding of the health and economic implications of disability policy. Fellowship related activities are expected to represent the fellow’s primary responsibility during the year.

Fellows receive a yearly stipend of $65,000 plus office space, use of computer facilities, and funds for research expenses. Financial support is provided by the Social Security Administration and NBER.

Applications are being accepted for the 2017-2018 academic year; awards are contingent on grant funding. Applicants must have completed a PhD before they begin the program, and must be US Citizens or lawfully admitted for permanent residence.

NBER encourages applications from candidates from under-represented racial and ethnic groups; candidates with disabilities; and/or individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
