Assistant Professor - Energy Market Analysis and Decision Making
Appointment: Tenure-track (9 month appointment) Research and Teaching

Department and Programs: The Department of Agricultural Economics in College Station, Texas, is a large, diverse Department with a broad array of programs, faculty, and students focusing on the application of economic analysis to decision making in energy, agriculture, natural resources, agribusiness, community economics and policy. This position will contribute to the advancement of research, teaching programs and a campus-wide effort related to energy and natural resource markets and their impacts on society. The Department seeks individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute to our departmental learning and work environment.

General Duties and Responsibilities: Focus on the economics of energy and natural resource markets. Research responsibilities include the application of economic principles and appropriate methodology related to energy and natural resource markets, their interactions, and subsequent impacts on state, national and global economies. Market structure, firm concentration and market performance, and decision making are important areas of focus, along with the role of spot, futures and options markets in price discovery and capital/resource allocation related to conventional and alternative energy sources. Teaching responsibilities may include courses in agriculture and energy markets or natural resources. The annual teaching load will normally be two to three courses for undergraduate and/or graduate students. Mentoring of undergraduate students and advising of graduate students is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching capability, excellent communication skills, and substantial potential for developing a nationally/internationally recognized research program supported by external funding from government, industry and other sources.

Qualifications: PhD in agricultural or applied economics, energy economics or related field. Specialization in areas affecting energy and natural resource markets is preferred, along with strong training in quantitative methods and microeconomics.
