Full Text of JOE Listing:

Two or more postdoctoral fellowships in economics are being offered through Columbia University to be supervised by Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz. At least one of the fellowships will focus on research in inequality—analyzing the dimensions and causes, the consequences and policy responses. Research can focus on US and/or international aspects of inequality. This fellowship is part of the Roosevelt Institute and Columbia University Project on Economic Inequality, supported in part by the Ford Foundation. Fellows may spend part of their time at the Roosevelt Institute or one of the other partner institutions in the Project. The inequality fellowships will last up to two years in duration.

One of the postdoctoral fellowships is for research in macroeconomics, with a particular focus on advancing our understanding of the explanations of deep downturns, slow recovery, and debt crises resolution. This postdoctoral fellowship is part of the Institute of New Economic Thinking (INET) Task Force in macro-economic inefficiencies and instabilities, highlighting market failures associated with the 2008 and other crises, and including analyses of the consequences of rigidities, non-rational expectations, credit and other market interlinkages, etc.
