New Mexico State University, Department of Agricultural Economics & Agricultural Business seeks to hire a 12 month tenure-track 40% teaching, 60% research Assistant Professor. Ph.D. required in Agricultural, Resource, Applied or General Economics.

The successful candidate will have evidence of: (1) interest and expertise in production and range economics; (2) potential to apply and teach at both undergraduate and graduate student levels one or more economic and business analysis tools, such as econometrics, simulation modeling, and/or math programming relevant to agricultural crop and livestock production. Demonstrated ability to (1) communicate with various and appropriate audiences (e.g., stakeholders, policymakers, and academic), (2) publish research in appropriate outlets, (3) develop and sustain external funding, and (3) teach and advise both undergraduate and graduate-level students. The department is diverse and multicultural and the ability to enjoy and thrive in this team-oriented environment will be necessary.

It is expected that the selected candidate will (1) develop an applied research program that addresses problems and issues important to agricultural producers in New Mexico and the Southwest; (2) teach at least three courses each year, advise both undergraduate and graduate students including serving as the major advisor of master’s level students; and (3) participate and contribute service on faculty committees. Although there is no formal Extension duties, outreach and service to stakeholder is an essential aspect of this position. Position available 8/1/2017.
