The School of Banking and Finance is seeking to recruit outstanding applicants for tenure-track positions at all levels.

Criteria:
Applicants for the Assistant Professor positions must have a doctoral qualification (or expect to finish in 2017) in Finance, Financial Economics or other related fields. Applicants must have a strong research agenda and must demonstrate the ability to conduct high quality research that is publishable in top-tier finance journals. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Candidates for seasoned/senior positions must further demonstrate outstanding research as evidenced by ongoing (including recent) impact publications in top tier banking and finance journals, as well as strong evidence of academic leadership. Successful applicants will be expected to have a demonstrated ability to attract research funding and actively contribute to collaborative research that will make a significant contribution to the School.

Details of the Position:
The position is full-time, for a probationary period of 5 years. An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Subject to performance, new faculty may apply for fully funded six-month sabbatical leave undertaken locally or overseas, after three years of service. Teaching loads are very competitive and new faculty members are provided with a full semester teaching relief in their first year.

The School of Banking and Finance, UNSW Business School was established in 1988 and is the largest School of its kind in Australia. Our more than 40 faculty specialize in various fields of finance and are from diverse international backgrounds. Based on the Arizona State University Research Ranking of finance faculties for the last 5 years, UNSW’s School of Banking and Finance is ranked 27th in the world.

Our faculty and research students have strong links with industry and global researchers and the school supports their research activities by subscribing to an extensive set of major financial databases combined with generous conference travel benefits. The school has strong ties with research centres: CMCRC, IGF, SIRCA, CIFR. We have strong ties to international business schools and our visitors program is globally renowned, highlighted by the breadth of distinguished international researchers who present in our weekly seminars and who are longer term visitors.

The school also hosts the annual Australasian Finance and Banking Conference (AFBC), now in its 29th year. The four day conference brings together leading financial researchers from around the globe.

Australia’s largest city and business capital, is known for its cosmopolitan, multicultural environment, a rich arts scene, with a superb climate and miles of beautiful harbor and ocean views. We consistently rank in the top 10 out of 221 cities for quality of living as reported by the Mercer Quality of Living Survey. Our campus is located at Kensington, 6 kms from the Sydney Central Business District, surrounded by a fusion of international restaurants, and minutes away from some of the world’s iconic beaches. The successful applicant/s will be provided with a generous relocation allowance and will be guided by relocation experts in the faculty dedicated to providing a seamless transition to Sydney.
