The RBA is seeking a suitably qualified researcher for the position of Senior Research Economist in Sydney, Australia for a commencement in the second half of 2017.The Senior Research Economist role focuses on conducting and publishing self-directed, policy-oriented research and providing advice on policy issues.The position features significant autonomy in conducting policy-relevant analysis related to the research agenda of the central bank.

A doctorate qualification with a focus on monetary policy, empirical macroeconomics, financial markets or financial sector issues is required. Policy-focused research experience and an interest in Australian macroeconomic policy issues would be highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical, analytical, and written and oral communication skills. Resourcefulness, creativity and the ability to debate, influence and provide advice on a range of issues are also highly desirable.

Initial screening will be conducted via telephone or Skype, with interviews planned in conjunction with the ASSA meetings in Chicago in January 2017. Applicants will be offered a 2-3 year contract at a salary commensurate with their experience and visa sponsorship(if required).
