The Department of Economics at Weber State University invites applications for two tenure track positions at the rank of assistant professor beginning fall of 2017. These positions offer a competitive salary and 3/3 teaching load as well as research support.

The department seeks candidates who have a demonstrated interest in teaching in any field, with an applied emphasis. Teaching responsibilities for both positions will include upper- and lower-level economics courses that support the existing curriculum. Candidates will also teach business and economics statistics and business calculus as part of the department’s service courses to the college.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic teacher who maintains an active research agenda, has the potential or demonstrated success publishing in peer reviewed journals, mentors undergraduate research projects, and recruits economics majors. Special consideration will be given to those candidates with a demonstrated interest in utilizing the department’s experimental economics lab. A Ph.D. in economics by August 2017 is required.

Weber State University is a public, open enrollment university located 35 miles north of Salt Lake City at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. The University has a total enrollment of over 25,000 students who are predominantly from the five-county Northern Utah region. However, a high percentage of economics majors are currently international students. WSU has recently made a concerted effort to emphasize both undergraduate research and community engagement.
