Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Research Fellow will work under the supervision of, and in collaboration with, Dr Irma Mooi-Reci, Professor Mark Wooden and Professor Tim F. Liao, on a research project, funded by the Australian Research Council, on intergenerational transmission of joblessness in Australia and internationally, including US, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea and Japan. More specifically, the project seeks to address three key questions:

How does family joblessness affect children's labour market outcomes, including: type and quality of first jobs, as well as employment and wage trajectories?
How does family joblessness affect children's joblessness outcomes and what conditions define children's later work-welfare outcomes: social learning-effects from siblings or the work behaviour from the parent?
How does the generosity of welfare institutions and changes herein influence intergenerational transmission of joblessness?

The position would suit someone who has recently completed their PhD (or is expected to complete very soon), has strong applied statistical skills (especially as applied to the analysis of longitudinal survey data), and has interests in areas relating to the operation of labour markets (e.g., applied labour economics, sociology of work or industrial relations).

Salary: $95,434 – $113,323 p.a. plus 17% superannuation
