Full Text of JOE Listing:
The global liner shipping industry is rapidly restructuring: use of larger ships, ocean carriers merging, and formation of fewer, larger alliances, are profoundly reshaping the competitive landscape of U.S. ocean commerce.
Do you have the technical, managerial, and strategic-thinking skills needed to lead a team of economists at the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC)? If so, you could be directing the Office of Economics and Competition Analysis(OECA). As OECA Director, you would guide development of analytic and regulatory frameworks used to oversee the pricing behavior and competitive conduct of ocean carriers and marine terminal operators participating in rate discussion or cooperative working agreements. OECA economists also prepare expert economic testimony for legal proceedings before the FMC and the U.S. District Courts, guide major research studies of specific industry issues, and assist in rulemaking initiatives requiring economic analysis. The OECA Director helps to negotiate and resolve agreement-related issues with industry executives and their legal counsel, and serves as an authoritative technical and policy advisor to top FMC officials. If you relish the prospect of leading and contributing to efforts that could provide new insights into the competition dynamics in U.S. shipping markets, review our job announcement at .
