Full Text of JOE Listing:

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral fellows in SPEA at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. This is a full time position for 24 months, beginning July 1, 2016 (or September 1, 2016).

Duties include: Conduct academic research related to regulatory reform, either reform of a specific program (e.g., a financial market regulation, an energy or environmental regulation, a healthcare regulation) and/or reform of a key feature of the rulemaking process (e.g., risk assessment, cost-benefit analysis, judicial review, public participation, scientific peer review, international harmonization). Reforms should be aimed at making regulation more effective, less intrusive, more economically efficient, and/or less of a deterrent to creativity and innovation.
Some of the research shall be collaboratively with other SPEA faculty; other research shall be alone by the fellow. Collaboration with graduate students encouraged. Write and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at relevant conferences.

Qualified candidates must have a doctoral degree or have a plan to finish the degree prior to the start of their SPEA fellowship. Applicants with a law degree and strong research interests will be considered. Candidates with doctoral degrees in the economic, social and management sciences, environmental science, public policy/administration, and public health are particularly encouraged to apply. Strong writing and communications skills are essential. We are especially interested in individuals who are planning academic careers or research-related careers in think tanks, government agencies or international organizations. Candidates from the US or abroad are welcome. Successful candidates may be located in Indianapolis or Bloomington.

Review of applications will begin December 15, 2015 and continue until the position is filled.
