Associate or Full Professor in Agricultural Economics (Cluster Hire)
The University of California, Riverside (UCR) is embarking on a major new hiring initiative that will add 300 tenure track positions in 33 cross-disciplinary areas selected through a peer-reviewed competition. For more details, please visit clusterhiring.ucr.edu.
As part of this cluster hire, the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a senior faculty appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level in Agricultural Economics with a focus on agricultural production of citrus, other perennial crops such as grapes or avocado, and other annual crops important to southern California.
The University of California, Riverside has been an internationally renowned center of excellence in citrus research for more than a century, and is currently in the process of making a cluster of hires in citrus related research in the areas of science, management, and economics.
Applicants should have an established record of outstanding research accomplishment in production economics. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to conduct interdisciplinary and international work with researchers and practitioners on various aspects of the production of crops. Potential research areas may include assessment of disease and pest prevention and management programs, adoption of new technologies, or the development of growth models. Responsibilities include developing a strong interdisciplinary research program on citrus and other crops, and teaching/advising undergraduate, M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. The selected person’s home will likely be the School of Public Policy with a potential joint appointment with the Department of Economics, or another relevant department, depending on the preference of the candidate and the host departments. The selected person will also be expected to provide leadership in research, collaborating with researchers from the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, other universities in the nation and with international universities and research centers, and to develop collaborative relationships with other units on campus.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or a related field. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
