Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) has several open PhD positions.

These projects are hosted by ESE and are affiliated with one of ESE’s graduate schools: ERIM or the Tinbergen Institute. ESE has a long tradition of academic and applied research, and is a leading academic institution, hosting some of the world’s foremost economists in all major areas of economics and business economics.

Candidate profile and admission requirements
Potential PhD candidates at ESE hold a (Research) Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to the PhD project, have obtained excellent study results, and are highly motivated to do scientific research. Erasmus University Rotterdam requires its scientific staff to have an excellent command of English (minimum CERF level C1).
Furthermore candidates are required to be admissible to either ERIM or the Tinbergen Institute (depending on the specific project).

Conditions of employment
Our PhD projects are fully funded and salaried positions for 3 or 4 years (depending on pre-education), meaning that appointed PhD candidates are employees (promovendus) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Monthly salary for PhD candidates is € 2.125 up to € 2.717 in the final year (2015 figures, gross and fixed amounts). The candidate's performance is evaluated after 18 months and if positive, the contract is extended for the remainder of the project.

The preferred starting date of PhD appointment is September 1st, 2016.

Contract type: Temporary, 3 or 4 years.
