The Faculty of Social Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong now invites applications of outstanding candidates for a faculty position with prospect for substantiation (open rank) in Global Studies.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong will launch a new interdisciplinary undergraduate program in Global Studies. We are interested in candidates who can champion research and teaching in one or more of the following areas of global studies:

- Global media
- Cultures and societies
- World Politics
- Sustainability and Environment
- Global Economy

The successful candidate should be a committed social science educator who excels in undergraduate teaching, student advising and postgraduate mentoring. He or she should also be a prolific scientist with an impressive record of publications and successes in obtaining extramural research funding. Aside from teaching foundational courses in global studies, the successful candidate will actively involve in the development of the Global Studies Program, organizing and participating in activities related to program promotion, student and staff recruitment and student advising.

Appointments will normally be made on contract basis initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Outstanding candidates may be specially considered for substantive appointment forthwith.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
The remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, a contract-end gratuity for appointments of two years or longer, and housing benefits for eligible appointees.
