The School of Information and the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley seek applicants at the rank of (tenured) associate or full professor to apply for the Hal R. Varian Chair in Information Economics—a joint position between the two units—at 100% time, with an expected start date of July 1, 2016. We seek a distinguished scholar and teacher with a research focus on the Economics of Information/Data, broadly defined.
Basic Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Economics or a related field is required at the time of application.
Additional Qualifications:
Applicants are required to hold a current tenured position or equivalent in Economics or a related field, by the start date of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding track record of publication in top-ranked economics journals. She or he will also have demonstrated the ability to elaborate the implications of their research, and findings from the field of Economics of Information/Data for professional graduate students in the School of Information, for undergraduates, and for Ph.D. students in Economics.
