Syracuse University invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Sport Management/Analytics. (Tenure eligible).

The Department of Sport Management is housed in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. This academically rigorous, business-based program is a new 125-credit curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Science degree and prepares students for immediate entry into the sport industry or graduate school.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to, undergraduate and potential graduate instruction in the Sport Management and Sport Analytics degree programs, focusing on sport analytics, research methodology, finance, computer programming, business and data analysis and statistical computation. Background and research interests focusing on the relationship between analytics and the business aspects of the sport industry is essential, as well as, researching/teaching player and team analytics. Proficiency and ability to teach R, SQL, databases, and computer languages (Python, C++, etc.) is essential. It is also preferred that the candidate have experience in oversight of student thesis or research projects. An ideal candidate will have background and research interests focusing on the relationship between analytics and the sport industry. Teaching experience should focus on the financial, statistical analysis and economic aspects of sport organizations and on current financial issues relating to professional, collegiate and global sport enterprises.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will help; advise students that includes course selection and strategic career planning; conduct individual and collaborative research; become an active participant in scholarly activities and community service; and effectively handle other responsibilities associated with being a tenure-track faculty member. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with other academic units and departments across the College, campus, and the local, regional and national sport industry.

An earned doctorate in sport management, economics, math, computer science or a related field is required. Appropriate sport industry experience is very beneficial. A record of demonstrated teaching and research competence and scholarly accomplishment at the collegiate level is required.
