East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics to begin August 15, 2016. Candidates are expected to develop an active research agenda supported by external funding, a commitment to innovative pedagogy, and a strong record of teaching and service to the university, community, and profession. Successful candidates will demonstrate research interests that apply tools of economic analysis to regional economic development. Areas of research of interest to the department include: urban, rural, and regional analysis; promoting regional economic growth and development while managing environmental issues; and the role of health in regional development.

East Carolina University (ECU) is a public doctoral degree granting institution. ECU is committed to its mission to serve as a national model for public service and regional transformation. It is the third largest member of the UNC system, with a diverse body of 28,000 plus undergraduate and graduate students. ECU is located in the coastal region of North Carolina in Greenville.

Minimum Qualifications:
Rank of Assistant Professor requires Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field conferred at the time of initial appointment. Candidates with all degree requirements completed or ABD at the time of initial appointment, with degree conferral no later than December 2016, will be considered for initial appointment at the rank of Instructor according to university tenure regulations. After conferral of the doctoral degree (December 2016), the appointment rank will become Assistant Professor at the beginning of the spring semester 2017, with no change in timing of reappointment and tenure decisions.
