Full Text of JOE Listing:

Litigation Analytics, having just celebrated its 30th anniversary, offers unmatched opportunities for labor economists. We operate in an environment of adverse proceedings in which hundreds of millions of dollars change hands annually based on what can only be called “counterfeit economics.” In applying the economics of human capital to study the economic impact of injury or death on victims and/or their families, our economists are involved with educating casualty insurance professionals, lawyers and judges who have learned their “economics” in a courtroom, as well as academic economists unaware of this potential area of application for their research. LAI is continually making efforts designed to unlock funding from the legal and casualty insurance industries for scholarly research in labor and education. Our economists are regularly addressing topics like the determinants of educational attainment, occupational choice, the changing structure of wages, income inequality, the effects of disability on educational and occupational decisions, the impact of non-cognitive skills, the effects of the ACA, medical costs versus medical prices, firm- and industry-specific technological change and other complex research topics related to our day-to-day casework. We support our economists’ individual research, which usually has direct application as they provide support and frequently testify in court proceedings throughout the country. Clients primarily include the nation’s leading casualty insurance companies and their defense law firms who focus on aviation and medical malpractice litigation. You will find LAI’s work environment quite unlike that of most economic consulting firms.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in economics with emphasis on empirical microeconomics, preferably labor, human capital or health. All positions include superior salary, dependent on experience, benefits and potential for large bonus. At present, prefer Dallas office location, others possible.
