The Department of Economics is a research and knowledge exchange intensive department within Strathclyde Business School, one of four faculties forming the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, The vision of the University of Strathclyde is bold and transformational, placing it among the world’s leading international technological universities. To accelerate further realisation of our vision, Strathclyde University is creating significant numbers of new professorial posts over the next three years through our Global Talent Attraction Platform (see: http://www.strathvacancies.co.uk/).
Strathclyde Business School was rated a top 10 business school in the UK (first in Scotland) in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework that measured the quality and breadth of our research. Our rating was particularly strong in terms of Impact, a measure of how our research impacts on practice. We were one of the first business schools in the world to be triple accredited, holding accreditation from the international bodies, AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS.
The Department of Economics is seeking to attract a Professor through this initiative, to enhance our research intensity and leadership. Any appointed candidate will be an internationally recognised researcher in an area aligned to Strathclyde’s strategic priorities; will publish in leading international journals; have a track record of pursuing funding opportunities from various sources; will take a lead role in ensuring teaching and learning excellence; and will lead the development of additional collaborative links with national and international partners in academia, business, industry and government.
The Department has particular research strengths in Applied Economics, Applied Econometrics, Regional Economics and Energy Economics. We have a commitment to excellence in teaching and offer a PhD programme in Economics along with a portfolio of specialist taught postgraduate programmes and a large undergraduate programme. We also contribute to the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics and are part of the Scottish Institute for Research in Economics (SIRE).
The post would be tenable from 01 July 2016 or by mutual agreement.
