The Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for one or more partial Ladder-Rank/partial In Residence faculty positions in the area of health policy, health economics, or health services research. This position will have partial state funding. Applicants are sought with expertise in regulatory science, health behavior, health care systems, health outcomes, dissemination and implementation, and other areas. Individuals who have produced research that has demonstrably influenced either health policy or health care practice are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to teach in the department's undergraduate or graduate programs, and to mentor a growing group of junior faculty. Candidates must have a PhD or MD with a track record in obtaining NIH (or comparable) funding and high productivity with regards to peer-reviewed publications. Rank and series of appointment will be based on skills and qualifications of the candidate. The Department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by participating in teaching, research and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

The Department offers teaching and student mentoring opportunities in the Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree program and a Ph.D. Program in Public Health administered jointly with San Diego State University, with emphasis areas in epidemiology, global health, and health behavior. The Department has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Centers of Excellence focused on cardiovascular disease epidemiology, health behavior change among underserved populations, tobacco control, and women's health. Additional opportunities include contributing to a newly established Institute of Public Health led by FMPH Department Chair Dr. Bess Marcus. The Department also provides multiple opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in other School of Medicine departments, and in the basic sciences, social sciences, and engineering departments across the UC San Diego campus. Research collaborations are also available at the Stein Institute for Research on Aging, the Moores UCSD Cancer Center, the UCSD Clinical and Translational Research Institute and the Scripps Oceanographic Institute.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with University of California pay scales.
