The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs in Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track assistant and associate professor in public budgeting and finance. We are seeking candidates with a distinguished record of scholarly achievement in one or more of the following areas: public budgeting and financial management; non-profit financial management; tax policy; state and local government finance. We welcome applications from those who study one or more of these areas within either domestic or international contexts.

The successful candidate must have a degree in public administration, economics, policy analysis, or a related field and be prepared to teach masters and doctoral courses in budgeting, public finance, and/or financial management. The ability to mentor doctoral students and an established track-record of obtaining grant funding are desirable, as is the ability to teach courses in public or non-profit financial management.

The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs has been ranked first among graduate programs in public affairs since the U.S. News & World Report rankings began and in the top 20 masters programs in International Relations by Foreign Affairs. The Department has helped sustain scholarly leadership in public finance for many years and offers a robust set of curricular offerings in public finance, budgeting, and financial administration along with many other areas of public policy, administration, and international affairs. The Department supports the largest share of Maxwell graduate students, offering six degree programs, including a Masters and Executive Masters in Public Administration, a Masters and Executive Masters in International Relations, a Masters in Public Health, and a Doctorate in Public Administration.
