St. John’s University’s School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science, a part of the Peter J. Tobin College of Business, invites applications for a tenure-track position in risk management and insurance or actuarial science. The anticipated start date is Fall 2016.

Applicants must either currently hold (or anticipate completing by August 2016) a doctoral degree in actuarial science, risk management, insurance or a related field. Applicants must show evidence or promise of excellence in research and teaching. The appointee is expected to publish high quality academic research and to teach courses in either risk management and insurance or actuarial science.

Located in Manhattan, the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science, formerly “The College of Insurance,” is one of the oldest and most distinguished insurance education and research institutions in the world, housing the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Library, one of the world’s largest collections of risk and insurance materials. The school’s Actuarial Science Program is designated a Center of Actuarial Excellence by the Society of Actuaries.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching excellence, a statement of research interests, two publications or working papers, and three references.

Representatives of St. John’s University will be at the meeting of the Southern Risk and Insurance Association in New Orleans, on November 22-24, 2015, and the ASSA meeting in San Francisco on January 3-5, 2016. We welcome meeting with interested applicants at any of these events.
