The University of Southern California invites nominations and applications for a position in the Price School of Public Policy with an affiliation in the Sol Price Center for Social Innovation. The search is open to both tenure track of all ranks and non-tenure track appointments. Candidates for a tenured or tenure-track appointment will have a Ph.D. and contribute to scholarship and teaching in social innovation. Candidates for tenured appointments must have an exceptional record of research and scholarship, and candidates for tenure-track appointments must demonstrate clear potential for scholarly excellence. Non-tenure track candidates should have a Ph.D. or a distinguished record of practice in the field of social innovation.
The successful candidate will become a faculty fellow within the Sol Price Center for Social Innovation (PriceCSI). More senior candidates would be expected to provide leadership within PriceCSI and work closely with the Faculty Director to accomplish the mission of PriceCSI. All candidates would be expected to help develop curricular programs in the field of social innovation with the Price School. PriceCSI is committed to advancing understanding of social innovation, with an explicit recognition that novel solutions to persistent social problems can be found within innovation, social movements, and cultural shifts. In addition, we are particularly interested in solutions that address the lives of the disadvantaged and the quality of life in low income, urban communities and work that contributes to the development of the academic field of social innovation. The Center is governed by a joint board of the Price School and Price Philanthropies.
The Center is well-positioned to build on the unique strengths of one of the world’s leading schools of public policy. The Price School houses a unique set of professional fields – public policy, public management, nonprofit leadership, urban planning, real estate development and health care – that emphasize the link between theory and practice, and a broad array of research centers in governance and philanthropy, urban development, and social policy. The School has a long standing commitment and experience in working across government, nonprofits, and business to develop solutions to critical social problems.
