The Surveillance Branch in the Division of Market Oversight (DMO) of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) anticipates openings in 2016. The Surveillance Branch analyzes commodity markets for market manipulations and trade practice violations, contributes to proposed regulations and legislation, evaluates allegations of misconduct, interacts with foreign regulatory agencies, and provides expert testimony and support in litigation. Desired candidates are persons that have experience in finance, micro and macroeconomics, industrial organization, econometrics and labor as well as other related fields. Strong quantitative skills and experience with large data sets is highly desired. The CFTC has excellent technological and research support. A PhD is preferred, but not required. U.S. citizenship is required. Salaries currently range from $77,225 to $135,993; applicants selected for senior positions may be eligible for appointment at higher grades.
