The nonprofit Urban Institute is dedicated to elevating the debate on social and economic policy. Our objective research helps expand opportunities for all, reduce hardship among the most vulnerable, and strengthen the effectiveness of the public sector. The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center is seeking Research Associates to contribute/collaborate with research teams working on federal, state, and local tax policy issue. Responsibilities include developing and/or maintaining databases and models that contribute to the Center’s research efforts; writing articles for academic publications and broader audiences (e.g., blog posts); speaking to the press/policymakers, and working to expand audiences for our research through social media or other web-based tools. Positions require a PhD or equivalent. Additionally,candidates should have strong quantitative, analytical, and writing skills as well as substantive knowledge/interest in policy research. Applicants should have experience modeling of social systems, conducting analyses using large household-level databases, analyses of tax policy and/or governance issues and successful completion of research projects.
