The Department of Health Policy and Management, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks candidates for a full-time tenure/tenure-track position. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2016. Although rank is open, candidates appropriate for Assistant and Associate Professor are preferred. The appointment will be contingent upon completion of the PhD. Candidates with formal training in economics or closely related disciplines are encouraged to apply. We are seeking candidates engaged in policy-relevant research that applies insights from economics to study health behaviors and healthcare policies. Candidates with training or expertise in behavioral economics, health economics, development economics, or judgement and decision making are encouraged to apply. Past experience carrying out global health research is also highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate a strong desire to work in an interdisciplinary environment and secure extramural funding. The position will provide opportunities to engage with Gillings School of Global Public Health faculty with strong research programs in a number of major domestic and global health areas including nutrition, cancer, infectious diseases, water and sanitation, and tobacco control policy. Applicants should also demonstrate a commitment to teaching and interdisciplinary research. The position will provide opportunities to teach master’s and/or doctoral courses that apply behavioral economics to domestic and global health issues, and to advise undergraduate, master’s and/or doctoral students.

Faculty in the Department of Health Policy and Management come from varied backgrounds including finance, economics, decision sciences, policy, public administration, sociology, and other health management disciplines.
