2. Applicant Qualifications
a.Applicants must
- have a PhD degree, have acquired an equivalent qualification of PhD, or have achievements
equivalent to PhD research work in their research field
- meet all the requirements of the Seoul National University Hiring Policy (see below)

b.Applicants must have adequate research achievements according to the Seoul National University Hiring Policy and research work criteria.

4. General Application Review Process
The application review process consists of two steps: document screening and interview. Applicants who pass the document screening process are invited for an on-campus interview.

Document screening
a) whether the applicant's abilities and speciality meet the announced areas
b) recent research achievements within the past three years
c) overall research achievements

Interview
a) public presentation or lecture
b) personal essay and statement of research and teaching objectives
c) suitability for appointment

5. Application Documents

a.Application (2 copies) – online form at https://professor.snu.ac.kr/

The overall research achievements should include all publications of the applicant since graduation and include the title, author(s), publication date and the name of the publication (including volume, issue, pages) for every publication.

b.Research achievements for detailed review - 7 copies each

1)Research achievements submitted for evaluation. At least 2, but no more than 3 research achievements must have been published since December 1, 2012 (including online publications) or be confirmed for publication, with the applicant as the single, first, or corresponding author.

2)Acknowledgment of research achievements:
① Doctoral dissertation: A single research paper is considered as a research accomplishment, but if the paper or part of it was published in another publication, the one favorable for the applicant will be selected.
② Not admissible as research achievements in regular periodic journals are introductions, book chapters, and conference papers (for exceptions see ④)
③ International patents (Korean patents not admissible)
④ Proceedings of international conferences may be admissible according to the criteria of the respective department.
⑤ Books: a text book for the corresponding major or a separate volume(book) that has contributed in the progress of the corresponding research field. Exceptions are translations, redactions, and dictionaries.

3)Others
① Research achievements should contain the publication date. If the publication date is not visible on the achievement itself, a copy of the cover and the table of contents should be submitted.
② If the applicant has published research after the application deadline, up to one item can be accepted with a proof of acceptance (including the publication date) but it should be published before December 31, 2015
③ The dissertations that have been accepted for publication should be submitted before December 31, 2015 in the same form as when submitted for application
(adding/removal/changes are unacceptable)

c. Undergraduate and Graduate Transcripts and Diplomas copy - 2 copies each

d. Official Documentation of Employment - 2 copies each

e. Personal Essay - 2 copies, around 5 pages
(including major achievements, fellowships and awards)

f. Statement of Research and Teaching Objectives - 2 copies each, around 5 pages
(including courses that the applicant could teach and suggestions of new courses that could be added to the curriculum as well as mid-term and long-term research plans and objectives)

g. Letters of Recommendation - 1 copy each
(from at least two scholars in the same field of specialty)

Applicants will receive an individual notification of the results once all eligible applications have been reviewed.

9. College of Engineering Employment Policy

a.The following applicants will be given preferential treatment:
1)Applicants with considerable academic/research career as a scholar and outstanding achievements
2)Applicants capable of contributing to the collaboration among new and different fields of study.

b.Faculty members employed after 2008 will be required to deliver English lectures
(2 per year).

c.Faculty members should deliver at least one online lecture within 2 years after the starting date of the appointment

10. Remarks

a.The application review process follows established University protocols.

b.All submitted documents should be in the original (translated documents must carry the translator’s signature for
authenticity).

c.Applicants can not apply for more than one position. Multiple applications by the same applicant will invalidate all of his or her applications.

d.Some positions, including the number of openings as well as the starting date of appointment, may be subject to change.

e.An appointment can be cancelled even after the commencement of the employment if the applicant has willingly falsified his or her application documents and/or has not sufficiently fulfilled the appointment criteria.
