The National Association of Realtors, America’s largest trade and professional association, seeks an Economist to conduct research on housing and real estate topics, to analyze economic, financial and real estate market data, and to contribute to a variety of ongoing Research division projects.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:
1. Research - conduct research in areas such as federal and local public policy impacts as well as the effects of demographic, consumer, financial and technology trends on real estate markets.

2. Data Analysis - Assist in maintenance of major databases including database structure, data integrity, and report generation. Also, in support of policy advocacy and research efforts, analyze macroeconomic, housing, financial and other economic data and develop and analyze surveys for use in conjunction with other data sources.

3. New Product Development - assist with new research initiatives to produce value-added products, studies and concepts for the real estate industry and association members.

Qualifications - The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and work experience:
• Master’s in economics, finance or related field (or Bachelor’s with significant experience)
• 3 - 5 years relevant work experience, with real estate and/or housing research-related work experience preferred.
• Superior writing and communication skills are required
• Strong computer skills are necessary with proficiency in SAS, SPSS or related software a plus.
• Experience with HMDA, AHS, ACS, and micro-level Census data preferred.
• Experience in a consulting or association environment is desirable.
• Presentation and public speaking skills are desirable; in the long run this is a high visibility position.
