Full Text of JOE Listing:

NYU Shanghai seeks to hire one or more teaching specialists in economics. Candidates must be able to effectively teach a variety of undergraduate courses at both the introductory and advanced levels. A teaching record of accomplishment is expected but less seasoned applicants will be considered, especially new Ph.D.s whom have taught introductory or intermediate classes as part of their graduate careers. The positions are not tenure-track, but contracts are available for multiple years and are renewable. The teaching load is expected to be five courses per year (2/3), although the load may be adjusted to take account of any administrative or other duties that the professor of the practice may assume. Evidence of research productivity is also welcome and can strengthen an applicant’s case. Compensation is highly competitive.

The terms of employment in NYU Shanghai are comparable to U.S. institutions in terms of compensation, and include housing subsidies and educational subsidies for children. NYU Shanghai faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and others sites of NYU’s global network, engaging in both teaching and research.

Applications are due no later than December 1, 2015, and will be reviewed until the positions are filled, for appointments to begin in the Fall 2016 semester. To be considered, applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, separate statements of research and teaching interests (no more than three pages each), and electronic copies of up to three recent pieces of evidence of teaching effectiveness. To complete the online process, applicants will be prompted to enter the names and email addresses of at least three referees. Each reference will be contacted to upload his or her reference letter. Please visit our website at http://shanghai.nyu.edu/about/work/faculty-positions for instructions and other information on how to apply.
