The OCC charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks, federal branches, and agencies of foreign banks and federal savings associations. Recently, the OCC was selected again as one of “The Best Places to Work in the Federal Government.” The OCC’s Economics Department has openings for financial economists in the Credit Risk Analysis Division (Credit RAD). We are looking for candidates with strong statistical and econometric background, especially those with research interest in the area of applied microeconomics, household finance, banking and financial institutions or corporate finance, and have (or are interested in developing) modeling expertise in credit risk that includes one or more of the following areas: credit scoring for retail credit underwriting or account management, corporate ratings, portfolio credit risk, economics and regulatory capital models, loss forecasting models, and asset securitization, as well as expertise in quantitative statistical and mathematical modeling. Job responsibilities include:
• Assess methods banks used to develop and validate quantitative credit risk models;
• Serve as a technical advisor to national bank examiners and policymakers on issues related to credit risks or credit risk models;
• Conduct independent research that is publishable in peer-reviewed journals;
• Attend and present research at conferences.

Highly desirable candidates are those with a strong research in applied econometric; a demonstrated interest or experience in developing/validating credit risk modeling expertise; a demonstrated interest or experience in conducting applied research for publication in refereed journals.

POSITION REQUIREMENT: Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents with the intent to become US citizens.
