NYU Shanghai invites applications from candidates of any rank with research programs in Neuroeconomics, Behavioral Economics or Experimental Economics for positions that are available in the Economics, Neural Science or Psychology units at NYU Shanghai. Applicants with interests in decision science, decision-making, microtheory, neuro-computational theory and computational modeling are strongly encouraged to apply. Scholars utilizing human functional brain imaging are particularly encouraged to apply. It should be noted that the search committee will be composed of leading economists, psychologists and neuroscientists who are comfortable with all three disciplines.

The recruited faculty will also have the opportunity to become a member of a new neuroscience research institute, with the primary goal of understanding the mechanisms by which neural circuits in the brain generate cognition, language, and flexible behavior. All scholars will have the opportunity to join NYU's international Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of Decision-Making (IISDM), which is developing a significant presence in Shanghai. Scholars in all disciplines will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with researchers in Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, and Engineering.

NYU Shanghai faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and others sites of NYU’s global network, engaging in both teaching and research. Faculty members in neural science may also have an opportunity to be affiliated with various academic units at New York, including the Department of Economics, the Center for Neural Science, the Neuroscience Institute of NYU’s School of Medicine, and the Department of Psychology.

Candidates for a position in the Neural Science division must have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent by the time of application. The successful candidates will be expected to develop an independent, extramurally-funded research program, play a key role in the growth of IISDM in Shanghai, and teach in NYU Shanghai.

The terms of employment in NYU Shanghai are comparable to U.S. institutions in terms of research start-up funds and compensation, and include housing subsidies and educational subsidies for children.
