Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking to fill two tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions in economics. ISER is an interdisciplinary, policy-oriented, social science research institute with a 50-year history of high-quality research in areas ranging from energy and fisheries to climate change and fiscal policy. ISER has a strong group of faculty and research professionals, and is regularly called upon by state and federal legislators and policymakers for insight into legislative and regulatory issues.

Successful candidates will be expected to develop a highly recognized program of scholarly research and public outreach, including the acquisition of external funding, with a focus on economic and public policy issues relevant to Alaska. Successful candidates are expected to disseminate their research through peer-reviewed journals and ISER’s research publications, and communicate the policy implications of their research to policy makers, journalists, and the general public. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in economics, or a closely related field. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate strong empirical research skills, including applied statistical methods, quantitative model building, and the ability to design empirical investigations to evaluate public policies.
