Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics - Crops, 12 month tenure track appointment, 70 percent extension, 30 percent research.
Responsibilities: The person in this position will be responsible for developing a nationally-recognized research-based extension program in agricultural economics, specifically to support Idaho’s large cereals and potato production and processing sectors. Areas of emphasis may include, but are not limited to farm management, agricultural finance, production economics, agricultural marketing, or agricultural policy. Specifically, the areas of emphasis of this position could include the economics of crop production in the face of increased water competition, the economics of crop diseases and food safety, the economics of industrial organization of the production and processing sectors, and the interaction of agricultural and environmental policy with firm level decision-making. The successful candidate will cooperate with UI Extension educators and state/area specialists located throughout Idaho and the region.
The research program is expected to be analytically rigorous and synergistic with the extension program.
Required Qualifications:PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics or a closely related field is required by start of employment; strong commitment to outreach, engagement and research
