The Department of Economics at Furman University invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level beginning August 1, 2016. We encourage applications from strong candidates in any field of economics for one position. For our second position we are particularly interested in candidates with teaching and research interests in health economics or environmental economics.

Furman employs faculty members who are excellent teachers and active in research and the life of the university. All department members contribute to the teaching of core courses in economics (principles, statistics, econometrics, intermediate theory, and/or senior seminar) in addition to courses in their areas of expertise. Applicants should complete a Ph.D. in economics by August 2016.

Furman University is a private, selective liberal arts college of about 2,700 residential students located in Greenville, South Carolina, which is situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Greenville has a thriving downtown and international community and is within a short driving distance of Charlotte, Atlanta, and Asheville. The teaching load is five courses per year. The economics department, like other departments at Furman, is strongly committed to excellence in teaching and active scholarship in a liberal arts environment.
