The African American Studies Department (AASD) in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park is recruiting two tenure track Assistant Professors. AASD is an interdisciplinary social science department engaged in the study of African American life and is committed to translating scholarship into practice and policy. The department is seeking to strengthen its capacity in health, family life, psychological functioning, child and adolescent development, politics or economic well-being among African Americans. Duties include undergraduate teaching, research and service. The AASD under the leadership of Dr. Oscar Barbarin will offer an exciting opportunity for development of early career scholars interested in research on African Americans. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Psychology, Political Science, Economics or related social science and a record of empirical publications employing quantitative or mixed methods. The successful candidate is likely to have completed post-doctoral training, possess a clear and compelling research agenda, an ability to collaborate with community stakeholders and interest in teaching courses related to health, family life or economic well-being.
