Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics is looking for a highly qualified person with the potential to establish a reputation in Economics, Econometrics, and/or Finance to strengthen its teaching and research profile. Responsibilities will include:

• Lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate students in Economics;
• An in-depth understanding of own specialisation to enable the development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field;
• Preparation and submission of proposals and applications to external bodies, e.g. for funding and accreditation purposes;
• Active participation in the Department’s community programmes;
• Involvement in professional activities where applicable;
• Supervision of Masters and Doctoral students;
• Conducting and leading advanced research in their field of specialisation.
• Performing administrative duties as delegated by the Head of Department.

Minimum Requirements:
• A doctorate in Economics, Econometrics or Finance (individuals expected to complete their doctorates within the next few months will be considered, but cannot be hired without the doctorate);
• Evidence of the potential to develop and implement a sustained research portfolio that can, in future, receive national and international recognition, e.g. publications already in print or manuscripts forthcoming;
• Evidence of experience, at least during the PhD programme, in teaching;
• Evidence of the ability to complete research, supervise research and lead research seminars in their field of expertise;
• Evidence of experience and ability to teach either Microeconomics, Macroeconomics or Econometrics up to advanced level, along with courses in their field or very close to their field.

• The ability to independently plan and initiate discipline-related and multi-disciplinary research programmes;
• Involvement in professional activities where applicable;
• Appropriate language and communication skills.
