IFPRI seeks an Associate Research Fellow for its Development Strategy and Governance (DSG) Division based in Washington, D.C.

The candidate will provide critical research support for IFPRI’s Central Asia Program which aims to provide evidence-based solutions for improving household welfare and advancing food security in the region in collaboration with economic and agricultural researchers in Central Asia and Russia. It focuses on agricultural transformation and food security issues in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. It addresses policy effectiveness and coherence within the agricultural sector as well as between the agricultural sector and other key sectors affecting economic growth and poverty reduction in Central Asia. The position requires that important policy research, outreach, and capacity strengthening activities be carried out with a broad array of agricultural sector stakeholders, including economic and agricultural policy research institutes in the region. The candidate will also contribute heavily to the team working on DSG’s public investment theme, including analyzing critical issues in public investment in other developing countries.

Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics, International Development, or related field.
• Strong capabilities in quantitative data analysis using economy-wide modeling and/or applied econometric analysis.
• Proficiency in econometric/computational software packages.
