The Department of Economics seeks a highly qualified individual capable of fulfilling several interesting roles as a public economist. The individual will normally teach four courses per year, conduct research, and be actively involved in the University's Center for Economic Analysis and Policy (CEAP). The CEAP umbrella includes the State of the Region report, the newly created State of the Commonwealth Report, and the University’s Economic Forecasting Project. Each of these is a highly regarded enterprise with external funding that attracts widespread regional attention and large audiences at periodic public events. Hence, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills for both lay and professional audiences and excellent empirical capabilities.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Curriculum Vitae that will support his/her appointment in a tenure-track position at the Senior Assistant or Associate Professor level and the talents to participate Center for Economic Analysis and Policy. There is a preference for applied candidates in Public Finance, Transportation and/or Regional Economics. Experience within a Center for Business and Economic Research, or equivalent organization is a plus. Outstanding candidates in other applied microeconomic fields may also be considered; a Ph.D. is required.

Old Dominion University enrolls approximately 25,000. The Department offers a master's degree in Economics and is located in the AACSB accredited Strome College of Business that offers a Ph.D. degrees in Business and Public Administration/Urban Policy.
